What is a Reasonable Adustment
A reasonable adjustment is a change that health or care services make to help people with disabilities get the same care as everyone else.
These changes remove barriers that might make it harder for someone to use a service or attend an appointment.
Examples of reasonable adjustments:
Making sure buildings are wheelchair accessible
Giving appointment letters in easy read or plain English
Offering longer or quieter appointments if needed
Providing hearing loops or BSL (British Sign Language) interpreters
Using pictures or charts to help with communication
Allowing someone to wait in a quiet space
These adjustments are important to make sure everyone gets fair and equal care.
For more information please see the NHS Reasonable Adjustment information page.
